Mr Ahmed Othman is a Consultant Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital, with a specialist practice dedicated to the full spectrum of aortic disease. Specialist Surgical Procedures
Aortic Aneurysm Surgery
Treatment across the full spectrum of aortic surgery, including aortic root surgery, aortic arch repair, and thoracoabdominal aortic repair. Aortic disease is often progressive and may require staged procedures over time.
Care is therefore based on a considered, long-term surgical strategy, tailored to the individual.
This also includes patients with heritable aortic conditions, where surveillance, timing of intervention, and family considerations form an important part of treatment.
Aortic Valve Surgery
Treatment for aortic valve disease, including aortic valve repair, valve replacement, and the Ross procedure. Where appropriate, preserving and repairing the patient’s own valve is considered.
Treatment is tailored to the individual, taking into account the nature of the valve condition, any associated aortic disease, and the most suitable surgical approach.
Where both the valve and the aorta require treatment, these are managed within a carefully planned overall surgical strategy.
Coronary Artery Disease
Coronary artery bypass surgery is performed to restore blood flow to areas of the heart affected by narrowed or blocked coronary arteries.
It may be considered to relieve symptoms and improve overall heart function, as part of a carefully planned treatment approach.
Re-operative Cardiac & Aortic Surgery
Specialist care for patients who require further surgery following previous heart or aortic procedures, including redo aortic, valve, and coronary operations.
