FAQs

A GP or cardiologist referral can be helpful, particularly where recent investigations have already been arranged. However, it is not always required, and you may contact the practice directly to arrange a consultation.

If further information is needed prior to your appointment, this can be organised in advance to ensure your consultation is focused and productive.

Yes. Many patients seek an independent opinion before proceeding with cardiac or aortic surgery.

Your consultation includes a detailed review of your imaging, a clear explanation of your condition, and a structured discussion of the available treatment options. This allows you to make a fully informed decision about your care.

In most cases, your imaging and clinical reports can be obtained and reviewed in advance. This allows your consultation to focus on understanding your condition and discussing the most appropriate treatment approach.

If you have additional reports or correspondence, you are welcome to bring them, although this is not usually necessary.

Yes. Self-paying patients may arrange consultation and treatment directly with the practice.

Clear information regarding fees and the treatment pathway will be provided in advance to support your decision-making. This includes patients arranging treatment privately in the UK, as well as those travelling from overseas.

SURGERY & RECOVERY

All major cardiac and aortic surgery carries inherent risk. The level of risk varies depending on your specific condition, overall health, and the complexity of the procedure.

These factors are carefully assessed and explained during your consultation, allowing you to understand your individual situation and make an informed decision.

In some situations, careful monitoring is appropriate and surgery does not need to be performed immediately. In others, delaying treatment may increase the risk of complications.

The timing of surgery is always based on detailed assessment of your condition, imaging findings, and overall risk. This is discussed with you clearly so that decisions are made safely and at the right time.
